I want to say supermarket but it's not.
Unless we go out of town to e-mart but it's had to get too without out own car.

One of the first things you need to know about Marts here is that you cannot enter with shopping or any sort of bag. I've gotten stopped a few times because of this ;;

At the entrence of the mart is a row of lockers where you are expected to put you bags before entering.

Well i suppose it makes some sort of sence to prevent theft of something. Theft dosn't seem to be much of a problem here. Kang was shocked to hear that not a day goes by when the police aren't in tesco arresting someone for shoplifting.
It does lighten the load when shopping but it helps to remember to take out the stuff you need (like wallet) first. ^^;;
it's not a great idea to go shopping during rush hour cause if you can't get a locker you just have to wait and you might end up with a bit of a fight on your hands if more than one person needs a locker.

After you finished your shopping you have to buy bags if you need them (thats not that unusual though) but what most people do is take there shopping over to a counter filled with tape and use cardbord boxes rycycled from the store. this is free to use.

I can't get used to korean money!

I thought Japanse money was odd but Korean money is just stupid ^^;
No wonder this is a credit card nation.

coins come in 10, 50, 100 and 500won pieces ...there isn't really anything you can buy at that price so there pretty useless. except for 100won coins that can be used in storage lockers and for getting trollies at the mart. in British pounds they are worth less than 0p

Notes come in 1000, 5000, 10000 and 50000won notes. 50000 is the highest domination you can get and it's worth about 25quid! the 50000 won note is fairly new so it's pretty rare so if you paying cash your working with 10000won notes. Just imagine paying for your big shopping trip with only Fivers or less ^^;;;

The house is almost starting to feel like a home... almost.

We bought most of out main appliences second hand although in doing so we wern't too sure what we where getting. Our washing machine is a beast!

The delevery guy installed both that and the fridge/freezer for us.
back in home if that happend i'd just let the guy go quietly about his business until he finished, pay him then see him off.

What Kang did was prepare him a towel to wipe his face with and something to drink before paying him, thanking him (you know all that bowing malarky)and seeing him off.

This seems to be the expected norm.
man, if it where me he'd be lucky to even be thanked ^^;
